Pte. Mouillee Clean UP

May 2 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

On Saturday, May 2, the Pointe Mouillee Waterfowl Festival (PWMF) is hosting a volunteer clean-up at Pointe Mouillee State Game Area in Wayne and Monroe counties. Volunteers will help pick up and dispose of trash across the area. This space covers more than 4,000 acres and is managed by the Michigan DNR, along with partners like PWMF, as part of one of the largest freshwater marsh restoration projects in the world.

Clean-ups like this really matter. Trash can seriously impact wildlife—animals can eat it or get stuck in it, which can lead to injuries or worse. Plus, a lot of Michigan’s waterways eventually connect to the Great Lakes, so pollution doesn’t just stay in one place. After heavy rain, even litter far from the water can get washed into storm drains and end up in lakes and streams. Getting involved in clean-ups (and just being mindful when you’re out enjoying nature) can go a long way in keeping these areas clean and healthy.

Want to help out? We’d love to have you! All ages are welcome, so feel free to bring a friend or two!
